Handmade Happy – Mini Quilts

Have you seen our mini quilt kits – a panel quilt, backing & binding perfectly packaged at JoAnn Fabric?

If not, you really need to pick up one of these quilt projects.   They give a pop of color to a wall or warm up a tabletop.  There are no teeny tiny pieces or precision cutting needed, and they are sized to quilt on your sewing machine.  Our kit is a panel, so the patchwork is done for you. There is a backing and binding in perfect coordinated prints, too. Eight designs are at JoAnn Fabric right now, in the sweetest little boxes.  The Trip Around the World is 19 1/2″ x 19 1/2″, the sky blue, aqua and navy is expertly matched and looks perfectly pieced! Trip_Around_The_World

There is a flamingo panel with dimensional ‘feather’ accents, a bright pineapple and more.  One of my favorites is the Lemon Criss Cross. I think it would be a great gift to cheer someone up.  After some  simple quilting, no one will know that you didn’t piece every block.   Lemon_Criss_Cross

Right on the box you will see a photo of the panel in your kit so you know what is inside and if there any any additional supplies needed.  You provide your favorite batting and in some kits you will need a little fusible web if they have an embellishment.  In Butterfly Garden you add double-sided butterflies after quilting. This one would be fun Mom/Gram & Me project – who wouldn’t like lots of glittery accents and butterflies? Do the age appropriate steps together, quilt as much as you’d like, then a few stitches will add the 3-D butterflies.

All the mini quilts sell along side the pre-cut fabrics so you can create in a series. The pack of 20  10″ x 10″ (5 designs/4 each) squares are a new size for us.  They join 20 piece 2 1/2″ strips and 5-piece fat quarter bundles.   If you are a new quilter or experienced one, you should look for these little kits. You’ll learn to cut binding and backing, baste and quilt. You will skip patchwork and go right to quilting. Become better friends with your machine!   Practice a new free-motion design or use a walking foot on a marked grid.  Try a new thread or binding method. You’ll feel successful sooner and have a pretty wall hanging to enjoy!  Here’s the link to see Handmade Happy and what is available on Joann.com.
