Backpack Panels – Cut it! Sew it! Pack it!
Easy to sew, 100% cotton panel backpacks are now at JoAnn Fabric & Crafts! Summer fun begins with this adorable project! These backpacks share the display rack with the Little Dress Boutique dress kits. To introduce them, we have a Giveaway over at our Facebook page!
These are about 11″ x 15″, big enough to tote around your sun hat and sunglasses, coloring books and markers; or pack up for an overnight visit.
The panel has all of the pieces marked clearly. You’ll start with the most difficult part – fusing the paws and ears together with interfacing, then move on to stitching up the ‘loops’. These are just like belt loops, folded in and sewn (not so hard to do, just scary at first). There are three major pieces to assemble – the backpack, lining, and flap, which features the cute faces. Follow along step by step, and in an afternoon, you’ll be finished!
Look for Sly the Fox, Owlivia, and Max the Dog:
Here’s three more: Patches the Cat, Mylo the Monkey and Mort the Monster!
These have a drawstring closure, so make these for your over three-year-old. If you have a teen with a little sewing skill, they may want to try this project. Handling the smaller ears and loops means handling an iron safely and some top stitching. I’ve met some really talented young sewists, so we know they are out there. This may be the sewing project for you.
Stop by your local JoAnn’s and take a look. In Australia, you’ll find Sly, Owlivia, Max, Patches, Mylo and Mort at Spotlight stores. It will be so hard to choose! For details on the giveaway, hop over to the Facebook page and enter by Friday, June 10. Good luck!
