Bunny Quilt – Inspiration, Tips & Techniques
We’re sharing a little quilting inspiration with you today!
This little ‘Bunny Basket’ quilt was made with the rolled 97₵ fat quarters at Walmart. That’s right, a new Spring/Summer group is in the stores now!
Bunny Basket Tips & Techniques
It took just a few minutes to figure out that a basket quilt would be a perfect match for these bunnies. Using eight prints that coordinate, match up your backgrounds and baskets. Draw out a simple basket, then fuse the handle in place. The basket shape was fine, but a lining was added so goodies could be placed inside. Now it’s a better-than-fine basket! Blanket stitch to secure your pieces. Add a batting and backing, and as much quilting as you’d like. For a small quilt like this one, why not practice some dense, all over background quilting?
If you have time, try a new binding technique. For this mini, I cut a 2″ binding, a little more narrow than usual. A little school glue under the folded edge, then pressed crisply, held the binding in place with no clips or pins in the way. You’ll have to try this if you like to take hand stitching with you – pins won’t accidentally be misplaced.Visit Walmart’s fabric department soon, they are only in store for a limited time. Here’s a link to find a store near you: Store Listing by State and here’s the rest of the Spring/Summer group. We can’t wait to see what you’re inspired to make!
