Red & White Patchwork Pillow – Free Project
Today, just for you, we are sharing our instructions for our simple patchwork red & white pillow.
You’ll need a fat quarter of Fabric Editions’ red and one of white-on-white for the front. Pick another perfect red for the back to make this 16″ square patchwork pillow. This makes a wonderful handmade gift for someone who is so hard to buy for!
Doesn’t the patchwork look fresher than ever this winter? Is it because Scandinavian style is showing up in home-dec design? Maybe it’s just the clear graphics and red/white contrast. It doesn’t matter if you’re following modern quilting or are a traditionalist, this red and white patchwork pillow will fit into any home beautifully.
This year, I’m making a few throw pillows for gifts. Adding a zipper or envelope closure makes the cover removable, so the gift will keep going through out the year. Making and mailing a new seasonal cover will be a fun way to say ‘thinking of you’ across the miles! The piecing works up quickly and if you have time, add the batting and muslin so you can put some quilting over the patchwork. Pick a fun print for the back for whimsy – we have some cute prints this year and it won’t take any more time. We hope you’ll enjoy the patchwork – click here for the free instructions!
