Burlap Table Runner and Jars
The cold wind blew for three days, stirring up all kinds of mischief. Somehow, quickly and not-so-quietly, a beautiful blue sky, warm October day became Halloween/Thanksgiving/and what-are-you-doing-for Christmas. Did you notice, too? Shopping panic caused traffic jams, long lines at fabric counters and Starbucks. Well, we’re glad you checked in with us, because we’re ready to share our best fabric projects updated for 2014 along with what’s new and noteworthy. We’re talking about easy and impressive decorating projects to make your home beautiful. Gifts to make your family and friends feel special.
Our first project is for your holiday table top using Target’s Loft burlap and printed burlap ribbon.
- 1 yard burlap
- 1 roll printed burlap ribbon
- Fusible web tape Pellon #807
- Trimmings (Mine were left over from other projects.)
- Jars or other vases you have on hand
Using the one yard burlap, open and iron to press out the folds. Cut to the width to fit your table – 10” to 15” wide centers nicely. If you are planning a banquet table, cut two pieces and join with the fusible web tape. This one is a mini runner, to fit my small dining table and coffee table.
Position the fusible tape around the edges of the burlap. Start at a corner, position the printed ribbon on top, pressing to hold in place. Fold the corners neatly to miter, and continue around. Now you can follow the rest of the package instructions to fuse permanently – Pellon 807 needs a damp press cloth.
For the jars, wrap a burlap and trims around, secure with hot glue or double stick tape. Completely no sew for a designer look. You did it!
