Seaside Inspiration Using Pre-cut Fabrics
There is still some Summer left, so let’s enjoy those warm sunny days with easy projects!
Today we have three fabric projects for you. Our fabrics and designs, your creativity.
Here’s the perfect wreath for your seaside decor. Cut your fabrics into strips and wrap around foam wreath bases. Use burlap ribbon to create a hanger, but also wrap around to form a nice base to glue your embellishments. Our Fabric Palette “Southport” precuts are found at AC Moore stores in fat quarters, 5″ squares and 2 1/2″ strips. For your bigger projects, a few prints are half-yards. The shells and starfish were also found at AC Moore and hot glued in place.
Our “Southport” shell print and coral print in turquoise were used to make this beachy tote. Use a fat-quarter friendly, basic tote pattern with boxed corners. Simple fish shapes were stitched up and grommets added for the rope handles. The fish are so whimsical, the bag wouldn’t be the same if you leave them off. It’s summer, so stitch up some fun!
Here’s something quilty for you, too! Iron-on fabric sheets are over at Hobby Lobby’s wearable aisle. You need to find them if you haven’t created with them. The fusible is already on the 100% cotton fabrics, in an 8″ x 9″ size. Each pack has five coordinated prints. I just folded paper for a pattern and cut out a few fish, then ironed them in place onto a simple white muslin base. Batting and straight-line quilting created a modern, sweet, seaside pillow. There’s a simple pillow pattern on our website.
