Happy July 4th!
Red, White & Blue Fabric Crafts
Summer is finally here, so let’s celebrate with some quick and easy DIY decorations. No-sew or low-sew, these all feature fabric, of course! First is our favorite wreath instructions. So easy and uses only seven fat quarters! The wreath works up on a 12″, 14″ or even 18″ wreath, but plan for a little more fabric to keep it full on the larger size. This year the patriotic fabrics are a little easier to find, because Walmart stores now carry our box of rolled 18″ x 21″ 100% cotton pre-cuts. Isn’t it great when you don’t have to lug around bolts and wait at the cutting table? There are 20 designs that are so easy to mix and match. You can also find our fat-quarter bundles of five coordinated prints in AC Moore and Hobby Lobby. For another wreath with complete instructions, see our website here.
Flags and Banners
The little stars and stripes prints are perfect for flags and banners. If you’re ready to teach your little sewist sewing skills, this one is for you. Using pinking shears, cut 4″ x 6″ rectangles and triangles. A few stitches were used to hold the stars in place. I used embroidery needles and perle cotton for the stitching. Dritz also has some neat threaders that helped the larger floss go through the eye. Glue the flag to a skewer or straw, rolling a bit around the stick. You’re ready to decorate for your picnic!
Bandanas
Your best friend will look so cute in his bandana. Trim down to about 18″ x 18″, fold in half to make a triangle and roll to make ends that tie. Easy peasy party attire!
Wishing you a very Happy Independence Day!
