Red, White & Blue – Summer 2016

Summer 2016 is quickly arriving, so time to start those red, white and blue projects!  Fabric Editions designed a great selection of Americana singles this year. Fresh prints, polka dots, and really good reds!  Today I’m featuring these found in Meijer’s stores. Take a look at this little DIY pictorial to see how easy it is.  You can also find the instructions for similar one free on our website.

Summer Patriotic Wreath

Memorial Day is more than the start of summer. It’s a national day of gratitude for our military heroes. Thank you to all our vets, those currently serving, and their families as well.

Americana fabric bundles are also sold at AC Moore, Hobby Lobby and JoAnn stores.  The singles are found at Meijers.  We used 7 mixed fat quarters for this 14″ wreath. What a great DIY project – you can make one today!

Where can you buy those rings.

    • Rose F.

Monique, you can buy those rings (Wreath Frames) at most craft stores like Hobby Lobby, AC Moore, Meijers, Michaels and Wal-Mart. They’re usually with the floral department, but that may differ for each store so definitely inquire with your local craft store!

Can you make this Wreath out of burlap stripes? I have burlap ribbon of stars and burlap ribbon of stripes.

    • Karen S.

Burlap will work, but it is loosely woven so be prepared for lots of loose ends. Maybe use a little burlap in with the fabric strips?

If the fabric isn’t available in “fat quarters”., how much fabric do you need.

    • Karen S.

Seven quarter yards. A 1/4 yard will give you about 20 2″ x 7 1/2″ cuts. A fat quarter gives 22 2″ x 7 1/2″ pieces. If you use a 12″ wire wreath form, it will look nice and fluffy.

    Can i use a 18 in. wreath?

    • Karen S.

We didn’t try one that large. To keep the fullness, you’ll need a few more fat quarters. We think it will be great!

I used an 18 inch wreath and it came out great! I used 7 pieces of fabric on each section. Love how easy and fun it was to complete!
